Philosophical Objectives: I am interested in the emergence of new practices and properties in the use of current technology. People build technological, organizational and usage artifacts. Artifacts are direct concrete representations of human intelligence. They can be physical tools or objects, as well as abstract concepts. My personal research agenda is directed by the search of artifacts properties. During the 20th century, we developed lots of mechanical artifacts, which were progressively embedded with electronics and software. We automated tangible things. We included software into hardware, and needed to better understand how to deal with automation. Since the beginning of the 21st century, we are experiencing the opposite trend; anything that we start designing is done on a computer! Consequently, we start in a virtual world. We can design a full aircraft as a piece of software and fly it! Good thing is that we can test functionality very early during design. Human-systems integration (HSI) can be inv
