Hákon Guðbjartsson is the Chief Informatics Officer at Genuity Science and has an extensive background in software development, with over 35 years of experience. During his time at deCODE genetics, Hákon played a significant role in launching the first-ever web-based personal genomics service called deCODEme. He also acted as the lead architect and developer for many software systems at deCODE. One of the software systems he designed was a patient identity protection system, which helped ensure the privacy and security of patient data. Another software system he created was a patient cohort definition and reporting system based on a unique Set Definition Language (SDL). This system allowed researchers to define patient cohorts based on specific criteria and generate reports about these cohorts. Hákon also developed a highly scalable database system called GORdb that was designed to be based on genomic ordered architecture and a novel query syntax. This database system made it possible to analyze large amounts of genomic data quickly and efficiently.
