Muotri is a professor at the Departments of Pediatrics and Cellular and Molecular Medicine at University of California San Diego, where he is also the director of the Stem Cell Program and Archealization Center. He is a Brazilian neuroscientist known for his work in autism research, brain organoids, and neural development. He has been instrumental in studying neurological disorders using stem cell models.
