Drew Weissman is an American physician-scientist, known for his groundbreaking contributions to RNA biology that have revolutionized the field of vaccine development. His pioneering work was instrumental in enabling the creation of mRNA vaccines, including the highly effective COVID-19 vaccines by BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna. Drew Weissman holds the prestigious title of the inaugural Roberts Family Professor in Vaccine Research, and he serves as the director of the Penn Institute for RNA Innovation, as well as a professor of medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn).
