Professor Cédric Blanpain, a distinguished researcher affiliated with the Belgian FNRS, leads a prominent group at IRIBHM, ULB, Belgium, and serves as a key investigator in the EuroStemCell (H2020) project. His lab's focus lies in unraveling the roles of epithelial stem cells in development, homeostasis, and cancer initiation. Using innovative mouse genetics and genetic lineage tracing, they uncover the formation of stratified epithelia during embryonic development and the responses of adult stem cells to DNA damage. Furthermore, they pioneer research on the origins of common skin cancers and the molecular evolution of oncogenic events to invasive carcinomas, offering valuable insights into cancer biology.
