James Wells is a prominent researcher and Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center/University of Cincinnati. He is known for his work on gastrointestinal organoids. His research primarily focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the embryonic development of endocrine cells, including pancreatic beta cells and gastrointestinal tissues. He leads translational projects aimed at improving child health through the generation of complex, three-dimensional organ tissues from pluripotent stem cells. Additionally, he is involved in the development of in vitro human models for diabetes and digestive disease research, as well as the establishment of long-term therapeutic strategies for cell and tissue replacement therapies.
