Sylvia serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Hub Organoids. She earned her PhD in 2006 from the University of Barcelona, specializing in the transcriptional role of MODY genes in pancreatic beta cells. Her postdoctoral work at the Hubrecht Institute in the Netherlands, mentored by Prof. Hans Clevers, involved investigating the metabolic regulation function of TCF7L2 and creating human pancreas organoids from tumor resections in collaboration with other departments. Sylvia joined HUB in 2014, leading cystic fibrosis and pancreatic cancer organoid programs. As Scientific Director from 2016, she oversaw contract services and research, facilitating the transformation of Organoid Technology into a major drug development platform. She assumed her current role as Chief Scientific Officer in 2020.
