Faculty AI: against COVID-19 Company
Entity: Faculty AI
Category: HealthTech
Description: Artificial Intelligence is the most important technology of our age, but it is valuable only when it is applied in the real world – enhancing products, improving services and saving lives. To make AI real, Faculty AI helps organisations work out what they could do with AI, and then help to do it. This requires three things: the right strategy, the right skills and the right software. Faculty AI helps with all three.
Project: NHSX
Summary: London-based Faculty AI has teamed up with Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Palantir to assist the digital wing of the NHS, NHSX. NHSX is a joint unit bringing together teams from the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England and NHS Improvement to drive the digital transformation of care. The companies are collaborating to create a digital dashboard that tracks the amount of ventilators in use and their locations, available and occupied hospital beds, A&E department capacity and how long COVID-19 patients are staying in hospital, among other things.
Funding: Financial support from the NHSX comes from the budgets of NHS England and NHS Improvement, entities responsible for its management.
+ Investors: Faculty is backed by investors that include Saul Klein, Co-Founder of venture capital firm, LocalGlobe and Jaan Tallinn, one of Skype’s founding engineers. The business has doubled in size every year. Recognising its strong sales growth and innovative technology, The Sunday Times named the company in its 2018 Tech Track ‘Ones to Watch’ list.
