NIHR Policy Research Unit in Maternal and Neonatal Health and Care (PRU-MNHC): against COVID-19 Hub
Led by the NPEU at the University of Oxford, this is a team of experts in the fields of maternal and newborn health research, with collaboration from the Universities of Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and Cardiff, as well as Imperial College and University College, London. They also have two Parent, Patient and Public Involvement (PPPI) representatives as part of the core team. Their programme of work began in January 2019, funded by the Policy Research Programme at the Department of Health and Social Care (England) via the National Institute for Health Research. Known as the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Maternal and Neonatal Health and Care (PRU-MNHC), their work directly affects government and NHS policy and practice around caring for mothers and babies.
Project: BPSU study of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) related neonatal unit admissions
Project: 'The feasibility and acceptability of different methods for collecting national maternity survey data - adapted to include COVID-19 data'
The projects were funded through the NIHR 'Policy Research Programme's rapid COVID-19' funding process and are supported from existing funding to Policy Research Units where projects have been adapted to address COVID-19. This research funding is part of NIHR and the Department of Health and Social Care's wider response to funding COVID-19 research.
