Description: The Royal College of Pathologists is a professional membership organisation with charitable status, concerned with all matters relating to the science and practice of pathology. It is a body of its Fellows, Affiliates and trainees, supported by the staff who are based at the College's London offices. The College is a charity with over 11,000 members worldwide. The majority of members are doctors and scientists working in hospitals and universities in the UK. The College oversees the training of pathologists and scientists working in 17 different specialties, which include cellular pathology, haematology, clinical biochemistry and medical microbiology. Although some pathologists work in laboratories, many work directly with patients in hospitals and the community. Together they are involved in the majority of all diagnoses, as well as playing an important role in disease prevention, treatment and monitoring. If you have ever had a blood test, cervical smear or tissue biopsy, a pathologist will have been involved in your care.

1. Programme Title: COVID-19 Resources Hub
Summary: COVID-19 Resources Hub is the latest clinical resource and information available on COVID-19, including links to Public Health England and the Department of Health and Social Care. The resource contains the latest information available on COVID-19 relevant to the practice of pathology. They are updating the documents and links on their page when they issue updated guidance or advice. They have also setup a page for trainees, which contains the latest College guidance and advice about COVID-19 relevant to trainees, including information about training and exams, and the support and guidance available from other organisations.

2. Programme Title: COVID-19 Post-Mortem Portal and Results

The Royal College of Pathologists is building a COVID-19 knowledge database with post-mortem reports. They have developed a post-mortem case submission portal as a means to build a database of information to help inform the treatment of COVID-19 patients and research about the disease. Anyone can submit preliminary and authorised reports, as well as accompanying images, using the portal. The team of pathologists will review all submissions, extract the salient information and add data to a findings document. This initiative has the support of the Coroners Society of England and Wales and the Chief Coroner. It is led by Professor Jo Martin, College President, and Dr Mike Osborn, Chair of the College's Death Investigations Committee.

3. Programme Title: 'COVID-19 Pandemic: video-based learning'

Summary: The College has launched a weekly series of online seminars, run throughout April, May and June, that will look at COVID-19 and its implications and impact on pathology. Introduced by virologist and College Fellow, Professor Will Irving, the seminars will each be led by a subject expert. The format of the seminars is a 15-minute talk followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

4. Programme Title: Testing Methods Sourcing Platform
Summary: New and novel solutions to help increase Coronavirus testing methods, supplies and capacity across the UK. This platform is a partnership between the Department of Health and Social Care, the UK Bioindustry Association, British In Vitro Diagnostics Association and the Royal College of Pathologists.

Royal College of Pathologists in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, the UK Bioindustry Association, British In Vitro Diagnostics Association, has setup a sourcing platform to seek new and novel solutions to help deliver 100,000 coronavirus tests a day by the end of April.
