During the World War II, he was evacuated to Alma-Ata, after returning to Moldova in 1944, he graduated thehigh school in Tiraspol with a gold medal (1951) and honors at the Faculty of History and Philology of the State University of Chisināu (1956). During his studies, he was published in the newspapers Stalinist, Youth of Moldova, Socialist Moldova, Soviet Moldova. Since 1958, he worked as a journa-list in Chisināu(he ran the department ofliterature and art in Tineretul Moldovei newspaper). Since 1963, he has lived in Moscow, where he has collaborated as a liter- ary and film critic on periodicals, including the magazines New World, Moscow, Friendship of Peoples, Young Guard, Our Contemporary, she graduated the documentary department of the upper courses of screenwriters and directors (1969, B. T. Dobrodeev's studio), worked in the magazines The Soviet Screen, The SovietWoman and The Art of Cinematography. He was the author of the screenplay and the director of over 40 documentaries (15 feature films). His film, Ljudi i koni (Reo- ple and Horses) received aspecial jury award at the Cortina d'Ampezzo International Sports Film Festival, Gorjachij prostoj and Kotlovan won Ist Prize at the RussianFilm Festival, Sem'ja (Family) won the Ist Prize at the Vilnius Union Film Festi- val, Kazahstan v Velikoj Otechestvennoj was decorated with the State Prize of the Kazakhstan SSR and the diploma of the Central Asian Military District.
