Semen Milshteyn People
He was born into the family of doctor Piotr Milshtein and engineer Zinaida Milstein. During the years 1972-1978, he studied at the Stolyarsky School of Music inOdessa, Ukraine. Between 1978 and 1983, he studied at the Gnesin Academy of Music in Russia, in the class of Professor Timofey Aleksandrovich Dokshitser.In 1983-1984, he was a soloist with the Moscow Military District Orchestra. In 1984-1987, he was a soloist with the Gagarin Air Force Academy orchestra. In 1987-2005, he accepted the position of concertmaster of the separate demonstration orches- tra of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.During the years 2005-2008, he was the manager and director of the jazz orchestra Dance Land. He taught at the Gnesin Children's Music School.He was decorated with: Emeritus Artist of the Russian Federation, Medal For distinction in military service, grade I, II, III, Order of Serving the Art, Order andRibbon For the Glory of the Fatherland.He was considered almost the only professional Russian trumpeter. Milsteinwas known as one of the most popular artists at the Vienna Ball. He has been on stage for over 30 years. Bohemia calls him Russia's Golden Trumpet, but the master himself acknowledged that this title confuses him somewhat. He considered this title pathetic, although he was flattered.
