Miron Rapoport ^People

After graduating the Lvov Polytechnic Institute in 1954 with a degree inGeophysical Methods for Mining and Exploration, he was assigned to the GuryevGeophysical Laboratory, where, under the supervision of Lev Polak, hepublished hisfirst scientific paper on the radioactivity of natural rocks. In 1954-1957, he was theleader of the Kazneftegeofizica trust. In 1961, he defended the doctorate thesis themedModeling of Wave Processes, Applied to the Seismic RNP Method.He defended his doctoral dissertation on Digital Processing and Seismic Data Interpretation in 1978. Since 1980, he has been a professor at the Department of Geophysical Exploration at the Gubkin State Institute of Oil and Gas.Miron Rapoport is the author of several scientific papers in the field of geophys- ical systems, he discovered theeffect of seismic inelasticity of oil and gas deposits and based on them developed amethod fordetecting these deposits.
