Vladimir Tsinkler People
Vladimir Tsinkler was born in Ceaga/Sărățica, Bessarabia, then part of the Kingdom of Romania. During World War II, he and his family were confined in the Chișinău and Peciora ghettos. After the war, he relocated to Chișinău and began playing football for FC Zimbru Chișinău, known then as FC Moldova Chișinău, in 1951. He advanced to the senior team in 1955 and served as its captain. Recognized as one of the best footballers in the USSR in 1958, Tsinkler played a total of 182 matches in the USSR Superior League, becoming the first player from the Moldovan SSR to be named a Master of Sports in the USSR.Between 1967 and 1970, he was involved with FC Zimbru Chișinău as a coach and later as the director of the club's museum. He authored the book Living by Football in 2010 and was a key member of the executive committee of the Moldovan Football Federation. His contributions were honored with the Order of Glory of Labor and he was titled Emeritus Coach of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic. Tsinkler also led the Republican Association of Moldova for former prisoners of ghettos and Nazi concentration camps.
