Naum Procupets People
He was born in the village of Basarabeasca, now the district center of Basarabeasca. His father, Leib Procupets, worked as a cook, and his mother, Clara, was a nurse. In 1957, the family settled in Chisināu. Here he began the training in kayakcanoeing, under the guidance of coach Alexandru Chirpicenco.He evolved for the Labor Reserves Society in Moscow, under the gui-dance of coach Anatolie Grisin. In 1967, he won the bronze medal at the EuropeanChampionship. At the Olympic Games in Mexico (1968), he won the bronze medal at a distance of 1000 meters, on a double canoe, together with Mihail Zamotin.He won the gold medal at the World Championships in Belgrade in 1971, where he also competed in double canoeing, where he was teamed with Alexandru Vinogradov. He won a bronze (1967) and a silver (1969) medal at the European Championships. He is a seven-time USSR champion.He also had the opportunity to participate in the Munich Olympics, but gave up sports in favor of an administrative job, which lasted until 1991, when he repatriated to Israel. He worked for a microelectronics company and kept the secret of his sportsperformances for a long time.He has the titles of: Emeritus Master in Sports of the USSR, International -Msater of Sports of the USSR.
