Victor Zilberman People

He played for the youth team of Moldova, coached by Savelie Chirioglo. He became the young USSR champion in 1964 and 1965. He won the Bronze medal of the USSR championships (1969, Minsk, 1970, Novosibirsk, 1973, Krasnoyarsk). Since 1971, he has played for the Belarusian national team. He became champion of the USSR (1972, Minsk) and won the silver medal at the European Championship (1973, Lausanne). Since 1974, he has played for the Israeli national team, winning the bronze medal of the World Cup (1974, Istanbul). Since 1977, he has played for the Canadian national team, winning the silver medal of the World Cup (1977, Toledo).He graduated from Lakehead University (1977) and McGill University (1979) with a degree in comparative pedagogy, Concordia University in Sports Management(1985). He received his Ph.D. in education in 1991 from the University of Montreal.For three decades, he taught physical education at Wannier College. He founded the Montreal Wrestling Club. He lives in Montreal, training at Concordia Stingers. He was a member of the Canadian coaching staff at the four Olympic Games. Among the disciples are Andrei Borodov, Givi Sisauri, Oleg Ladik, Mikhail Zhaparidze, Kakhaber Verkvashiashvili, Martina Dyugrenye, Tyler Margetis, Ilana Kratysh, Georges Saint-Pierre and his son David Zilberman. He is the author of methodological publications on physical education.
