HESEG Foundation is a philanthropic foundation that was founded in 2005 by Jerry Schwarz and Thar Rissman. The foundation provides scholarships based on excellence for discharged lone soldiers, including funding for first-degree studies and monthly support for living expenses. The foundation was established out of a sense of commitment and gratitude to the thousands of lone soldiers who served in the IDF, most of whom are young people who left everything behind to come to Israel and enlist. HESEG sees its scholarship recipients and graduates as the next generation of leaders: Zionists, leaders in various fields, pioneers in the world of research and academia, entrepreneurs, and contributors to Israeli society. The foundation also supports widows and orphans, the Duvdevan unit, the IDF's intelligence unit, and the Druze community.
